Pre-Treatment Guidelines — CO2RE and Nordlys Mini
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for 2 weeks before treatment. If outside, apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and wear protective clothing.
- Clients who are darkly tanned or sunburned should wait at least 2 weeks before being treated.
- Avoid self-tanning lotions, sprays, or creams for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
- Avoid chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or other aesthetic treatments that may irritate the skin for 1 week before treatment.
- Avoid neurotoxin injections for 2 weeks before treatment and filler for 4 weeks before treatment.
- Avoid waxing for 1 week before and 4 to 8 weeks after treatment.
- Keep your skin well-hydrated in the days leading up to treatment. Drink plenty of water and use a gentle moisturizer. Avoid applying lotions or creams on the day of treatment.
- Talk to your provider about any photosensitizing medications you are taking, as some may increase your skin's sensitivity to light.
- If you are prone to cold sores, discuss pretreatment options with your provider at your consultation. Your provider will prescribe an antiviral if appropriate.
- Come to your treatment with a clean face and no makeup.
- Clients who have used Accutane within the last 6 months cannot receive CO2RE laser skin resurfacing.
POST-TREATMENT GUIDELINES
CO2RE
- Discomfort can be relieved with cool compresses or acetaminophen (Tylenol).
- To reduce swelling, apply ice packs wrapped in gauze, provided to you at checkout, for 10 to 15 minutes at a time.
- For the first 24 hours, do not use cleanser on your face. Use the diluted vinegar provided for soaks rather than washing. After 24 hours, a mild, gentle cleanser can be used.
- Showers are permitted, but prolonged bathing is not advised.
- Do not rub the treated skin with a towel or washcloth until it is fully healed.
- Apply a protective ointment to the treated area two or more times daily for 3 to 5 days.
- Use broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater.
- Avoid sun exposure completely for 2 weeks after treatment.
- Within 48 to 72 hours after treatment, you may experience flaking or peeling. Do not pick or pull the skin.
- Do not have any other facial treatments for at least 4 weeks after treatment.
- Avoid saunas and intense workouts for at least 48 hours after treatment.
- Avoid swimming and contact sports while the skin is healing.
Nordlys Mini
- A cool compress or Phyevita can help ease discomfort. Aloe vera is not recommended.
- Avoid sun exposure completely for 2 weeks after treatment. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater.
- Showers are permitted, but prolonged bathing is not advised.
- Avoid saunas and intense workouts for at least 48 hours after treatment.
- Keep your skin hydrated with a gentle, non-irritating moisturizer to support the healing process.
- If treating pigmentation, you may notice the treated spots darken before flaking and shedding. This is part of the natural healing process. Do not pick or scrub the skin.
- Stay hydrated and use calming products, such as those containing hyaluronic acid, to help retain moisture in your skin.
- Avoid makeup for 24 to 48 hours after treatment. If needed, use non-comedogenic and lightweight products to reduce irritation.
