PRE-TREATMENT GUIDELINES

  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event. Redness, swelling, and bruising may be apparent during that time.
  • To minimize bruising or bleeding, it is recommended to discontinue the use of Aspirin, NSAIDS, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. All these factors may increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
  • Starting Arnica supplements at least 2 days prior to injections may help with bruising.
  • Let the provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.
  • You may not have an active rash in the area being treated.
  • You may not be pregnant or breastfeeding.

POST-TREATMENT GUIDELINES

  • Redness or sensitivity might be present (and last up to a few hours).
  • Use Tylenol only as needed for any soreness.
  • Do NOT manipulate the treated area for 4 hours following treatment.
  • Do NOT wear a hat for 4 hours following treatment.
  • Do NOT lie down for 4 hours after your treatment.
  • Do NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 4 hours after treatment.
  • It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks before having any other facial treatments (i.e. facials, massages, lasers, ultrasounds, micro-dermabrasion).
  • It can take approximately 3-5 days for the results to be seen. If the desired result is not seen after 2 weeks of your treatment, you may need additional injections.

  • Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area unless instructed by the provider.
  • Avoid makeup for 12 hours.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Avoid extensive sun or heat for 72 hours.
  • If you have swelling, you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour if instructed to do so by your provider.
  • Sleep face-up and slightly elevated. This will also help with swelling.
  • Postpone any dental procedure(s) for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
  • It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks before having any other facial treatments (i.e. facials, massages, lasers, ultrasounds, micro-dermabrasion).

PRE-TREATMENT GUIDELINES

  • The area to be treated must be clean-shaven. Unshaven clients will be rescheduled or be subject to our $50 shaving fee.
  • Do not wax, tweeze, pluck or use depilatories during your series of laser hair reduction.
  • Avoid sun exposure 7 days prior to your treatment. Clients who are sunburned or tanned must wait 2 weeks before being treated to avoid additional skin damage.
  • Avoid sunless tanning products 7 days prior to your treatment. It is recommended that you exfoliate the area to remove any residual color.
  • Clients should come to appointments with clean skin in the area to be treated. All clients who are treating any part of their face or neck will be required to cleanse their entire face in office.
  • Avoid chemical peels and other laser procedures in the area to be treated for 2 weeks prior and two weeks after your laser treatment.
  • Avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxyl products (AHA/BHA), hydroquinone, retinols/retinoid, Tazorac, and Differin for 7 days before treatment.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, it is highly recommended to take an anti-viral medication (such as Valtrex) prior to your treatment. Clients with active cold sores will not be treated.
  • Antibiotics may increase photosensitivity. We recommend that you check with your personal physician prior to receiving laser treatments if you are taking a long-term antibiotic. If you become ill and begin taking an antibiotic, you will need to be off the medication for 7 days before laser treatment.
  • Longevity of Botox and fillers done any time within 6 months prior to face treatment may be affected. Botox done within 2 weeks prior to treatment is not recommended.

POST-TREATMENT GUIDELINES

  • Avoid sun exposure for 7 days post-treatment.
  • If blisters occur, do not puncture. If skin is broken, apply an antibiotic ointment until healed.
  • Tylenol is recommended for post-treatment discomfort.
  • You may also apply Restorative Gel (highest recommended), cool towels, ice packs or aloe vera to alleviate discomfort due to heat.
  • Avoid any additional laser treatments or chemical procedures on the treated area for at least 2 weeks post-treatment or until healing has occurred.
  • Using a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 45 or higher is critical when receiving laser treatments and is recommended ongoing for maintenance.
  • To achieve the best results, complete the full treatment schedule at the intervals

PRE-TREATMENT GUIDELINES

  • Avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy products (AHA/BHA), hydroquinone’s, retinols/retinoids, aspirin, Tazorac, Differin, and Vitamin E products for 3 days before your treatment.
  • Clients should come to their treatment with a clean face and no make‐up on.
  • Avoid extended sun exposure or tanning for 1 week pre & post treatment.
  • Clients who are darkly tanned or sunburned should wait at least 2 weeks before being treated in order to avoid additional skin damage.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, take an anti‐viral medication (such as Valtrex) prior to your treatment.
  • Clients who have used Accutane within the last 6 months CANNOT have laser skin resurfacing.
  • Avoid waxing for 1 week before and 4-8 weeks after treatment.

POST-TREATMENT GUIDELINES

  • Avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy products (AHA/BHA), hydroquinone’s, retinols/retinoids, aspirin, Tazorac, Differin, and Vitamin E products for up to 5 days post treatment.
  • Discomfort can be relieved with cool compresses or acetaminophen (Tylenol). DO NOT ingest aspirin or products containing aspirin until complete healing has occurred. To reduce swelling you may apply ice packs to the treated area. Ice should be wrapped in a soft cloth and applied for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • When washing your face for the first 1‐2 days, do not scrub. Use a gentle cleanser with no acids.
  • Showers are permitted but prolonged bathing is not advised. You may pat the treated area gently with a soft cloth but DO NOT RUB with a towel or washcloth for at least 3 days or until redness subsides.
  • Apply a protective ointment to the treated area two or more times daily for 3 to 5 days. This process is critical in keeping the skin hydrated and preventing bacteria from entering the skin.
  • It is imperative that you use a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with an SPF of at least 20 or higher and avoid direct sunlight for at least 7 days post treatment.
  • Within 48 to 72 hours post treatment, you may experience flaking or peeling. This will generally last a few days. DO NOT PICK OR PULL THE SKIN.
  • Do not have any other facial treatments for at least 2 weeks post treatment.
    Avoid swimming and contact sports while the skin is healing.

  • If exposed to the sun, always use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply every 2 hours.
